Massive bump there, and I don't believe "The path to evil is lined with good intentions." applies here.
"The path to evil is lined with good intentions" means that we all try to make us and our surroundings a better place. Sometimes, it leads to disaster. Say we started an election for leader with good intention that we will pick a good impartial leader. In the end, we might end up with some person who doesn't know anything about... well, anything. What's in here is that some girl is seeking fun in life at the expense of others.
Whiskers wrote:Evil is another word for perspective. I've dealt with a handful of evil people. So here comes the question, why are people evil? It's simple, we're human. Humans are just that way. But then we come into the discussion whether something is good or bad? To me stealing is bad but to someone else, there's nothing wrong with it. But to them, I'm evil simply because I'm not like them. A good way to define evil is someone that isn't like everyone else in that society. Now let's pretend that a mosquito saw a normal, rational person kill a mosquito resting on a table, isn't that evil?
Ah yes. There's no such thing as evil, good, bad, etc. I'm agreeing with you on that point there, but in the end, it's all about how we get what we want based on what we know (aka natural reaction to situations). Suppose someone is sent to jail because (s)he stole something. It would be our faults for doing whatever to our friends/relatives and which caused them to do something to their friends/relatives and so on and so on. Eventually, the (wo)man who stole is affected by our action. We won't know/care unless we were placed in the situation. Maybe the family was poor? That would lead back to us electing a bad government not distributing food properly (then again, I'm not a politician, but either way, it leads back to us). With the mosquito, it's not exactly the same situation, but we think: "Mosquito bad. Must not let mosquito bite me." and after some tampering with the mosquito, we now think "Killing mosquito will stop mosquito from biting me. I will kill mosquitoes." Which is our natural reaction to the situation it's not evil, and yet it's not good either. We can't do anything about our decision (which leads to a whole new topic). In (our interpretation of) the mosquito's friend's point of view, (s)he thinks "Giant looks scary" or "Giant killed friend. Giant might kill me. Giant bad. Get away from giant." which might turn into "Oh my god that human is evil since he killed my friend" and
the natural reaction is to run away after finding out what happened.
In Azure_Flame's case, the girl that you liked isn't evil. As Whiskers said, we are human. We have faults. We search for excitement, and we avoid pain (in the form of physical, mental, emotional, etc). We are selfish (as said by me 10^40 times). Everyone searches for excitement in one's life. Either by riding a roller-coaster, playing a game, trolling or just posting messages on the internet, or lying to others about feelings. It gives us the feeling of excitement, whether it's adrenaline, or just the feeling that you're above everyone when you lie. Basically, you feel good when you think, "Man, that A_F is so gullible!", when you're really thinking "I'm better than A_F by lying to him, since I know the truth and he does not!"
You've probably already had your thinking session on this since April, A_F, but meh.
