Summary
Nearly at the end of the 8-bit era, Nintendo released a handheld console called Game Boy. It was developed by Gunpei Yokoi and the R&D1 team at Nintendo. Yokoi wanted to create a brainchild of the NES and the Game & Watch, both of which he developed. In 1987, Nintendo created a prototype for the Game Boy, with high expectations. Nintendo of Japan president Hiroshi Yamauchi predicted that it would sell over 25 million copies in its first three years. The Game Boy later evolved into the Game Boy Color, which sold 118 million copies combined with the Game Boy.
